Shi Zhongjun Invited to Share Insights on Tourism Security

     On 6 September 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was invited to attend and address the opening ceremony of the Tourism Security Sub-forum of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum held in Sanya City of Hainan Province. Mr. Cai Zhaohui, Vice Governor and Director General of the Public Security Department of Hainan Province, and other representatives from public security administrations, institutions and academia from China and other countries such as Egypt, Kenya, France, Vietnam, Malaysia, Serbia, Hungary and Maldives attended the event.
 
     In his opening remarks, Shi Zhongjun underlined the significance of tourism safety and security in the post-pandemic recovery of tourism sector. He elaborated on the ACC’s consistent efforts in promoting sustainable tourism cooperation between ASEAN and China and called on the related parties to focus on and further strengthen institutional cooperation, practice and information sharing and personnel training, in the purpose of building a better, safer and friendlier world for the tourists.
 
     The Sub-forum, themed on “Tourism with Security, Partnering for Progress”, is the first of its kind under the framework of Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang), aiming at establishing a high-level dialogue platform for international cooperation on tourism security to forge a new model of public security governance for global tourism. At the event, the participants had in-depth exchange of views centering on tourism security and socio-economic development, international cooperation for tourism security governance, and new challenges and ways forward for global tourism security.
